Congressman Jeff Flake

Bill Maher interviewed Congressman Jeff Flake of Arizona, who was also profiled on 60 Minutes recently. Flake is a conservative in the best sense of the term: A staunch opponent of earmarks and pork, he has turned against the Iraq war and the Patriot Act.

I like this guy. Is there anything Dems can do to get him to switch teams? Jeff, if you come around to our side, I promise never again to make slighting remarks about Joseph Smith. (Flake happens to be a Mormon.)

(Mind you, I still think Smith cribbed from Spaulding...)

joe, i understand the impulse to get repugs to turn dem, and i do hope chafee does. but i believe we'll make the greatest strides when republicans with conscience actually stand up the bush. one thing i think we're about to see more of, actually.

another thing; harry reid is mormon.
