As most Americans should (but don't) know, many of the detainees at Gitmo were fingered by Afghans who had been offered a substantial reward for ratting out Al Qaida members. As a moment's thought will tell you, a bribe of this sort won't fetch many real terrorists. I have no doubt that villagers desperate for a little cash targeted personal enemies or the unpopular.
We now have, courtesy of the Washington Post, a list of the detainees. One of them is a fellow named Mohammed Sadiq (not an uncommon name in that part of the world) -- who happens to be 93 years old.
That may sound like a Crowley-esque joke. But it's for real, folks. How much harm can a 93-year-old man do to America?
