Rush vs. Hollywood Jews

Rush Limbaugh claimed on his radio program that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's letter to President Bush contained not only "Democratic talking points," but "even some liberal Hollywood Jewish people talking point."

Not too long ago, the neocon right (correctly) scored Ahmadinejad for Holocaust denial. Now, Rush seems to think that the Iranian leader and the Jews are somehow "in it" together.

This sort of outburst demonstrates why, even though the right-wingers and the Fundamentalists continually proclaim their love for Israel, most Jews remain wary. Deep down, the "Christian" rightists mistrust anyone outside their faith, and will neither share nor tolerate the humanist values held by most American Jews. Once the theocrats have established dictatorial control in this country -- and the Dominion theologians have made no secret of their ambitions -- they will need a scapegoat for their misrule, and they will turn against the Jewish people. Israel will then provide scant refuge.

I agree with the previous poster in my skepticism of that statement. I am not so sure that Limbaugh got that correct at all. I recall reading a column by Juan Cole that stated that the translation of Ahmadinejad has been very poor, and he implied no such thing at all. I am not sure which column by Cole it was, but within the past 30 or 60 days probably.
