The increasingly conservative Los Angeles Times just fired (for no stated reason) powerhouse liberal columnist Robert Scheer. Outrageous! They also canned the one conservative worth keeping around: Cartoonist Michael Ramirez. I despise his politics, but he's a great craftsman.
My old art teacher Nancy Ohanian, the finest pen-and-ink specialist this country has ever produced, is syndicated by the Times. She's too ladylike to tell those censoring bastards to go to hell, but I wish she would.

Oh, fear not. As a sane liberal I've been boycotting the Times for a while now--the decidedly rightest bent of their feature stories, particularly those on health, scared me away forever.
