I'm still away, but IT is back...

I still haven't gotten round to normal posting, due to 'puter problems. Seems the big ol' data drive on which I keep, like, EVERYTHING has been acting up. Ominous clicking sounds, followed by a refusal to boot. I've heard that freezing the HD can get it working, temporarily. Urban legend or the straight skinny? We'll soon find out!

Oh, but before I go back to my petty hard drive concerns, I should pass on a juicy item: Our old friend Chris Shaw has spotted the infamous BUSH BACK BULGE once more. And lemme tell ya -- these photos (from today's press conference) are pretty damn damning.

Well, he needs all the help he can get, what with him hitting the bottle again and all.

Joseph,

you can buy an inexpensive external harddrive that connects via USB and if you can startup your computer one more time, transfer all your data over to that external harddrive before it crashes.

also, check to make sure you're not running out of harddrive space on your main drive, if you're below 200Mb, you'll have problems on an windows XP machine.

try doing a defrag also, but again you'll need at least 15% free harddrive space to properly run the defrag.

but you probably already know all of these things.

Lastly, I wouldn't past the Bushies to direct against you some sort of EMF type device that would cause you to have computer harddrive problems just as you are about to come up with juicy information about the Atta-Abramoff-Bush-DOD-AbleDanger connection. Other folks like MIchael Moore and Al Franken have all experienced terrible harddrive crashes before/after their books/movies have been released.

best luck to you and bad luck to those that are directing electrical interference either via remote viewing or other delivery systems your way.

We all like to bad-mouth Bill Gates. But the truth is, I just cannot reconcile myself to Macs. I use them at the ad agency where I sometimes work -- big, juicy, powerful machines with WACOM tablets the size of an air hockey table. But I just don't dig 'em. They don't FEEL right.

You know how PC guys are: They can't trust a machine they didn't build themselves. Remember that state of sheer Zen FOCUS you experienced as you researched CPU coolers and power sources...?

At any rate, I discount sabotage. Although -- and this is true -- I kept all internet connections well and truly away from my "art-making" 'puter until yesterday. And that's the day the 260-gigger started making that clicking noise...

No. No. Mustn't think that way.

Paranoia must have limits.

But I am, of course, grateful for all suggestions and kind words.

As an artist, Joseph, you must know that the
best graphics program is the GIMP.

Network a bunch of computers so you have
multiple backups.

Joseph... STOP, absolutely STOP using that
drive. Find another vector to the internet,
even if it's a $10.00 thriftstore special.
Take your drive to an expert so the data can
be gently offloaded. Please.

BUSH BULGE
Did you watch his Rose Garden speech yesterday? It was fulled with mutterings, hesitancies, rushes of words, starings into space, restarted sentences, shifts from fifth grade phrases to complicated syntax.
Our poor deranged country!

I'm so glad to see someone else with this view! Now, you get to bend that Zen Focus to obtaining another hard drive. If it helps, I haven't had any problem with my Western Digital drives. I can't say that about Maxtor drives. Good luck, and thank you for all your hard work!

the battle over the bulge thing seems a bit much to me. Hard to believe that with all our science and all sciences miniaturizing prowess.that that doggone thingy on his back is still bulging in the exact same backbone location for all to see and drool mischieviously.
Jeepers, with todays black budget, rocket science achivements in Dr. Frankensteins laboratory, the person we call president may just be a well animated Pinocchio made of maple sugar and paper clips. You know what I mean? RoboPres..or daddy after serious plastic surgery.
On the other hand..raised stiffly in a Hitler salute, we all realize..or most of us..that El Supremo is a in fact an illegitimate child of Adolph Hitlers, after he had sex with an alien aardvark or penguin imported from Antactica, .(.the jury is still out on that sexual liason, but I heard that a "Ppenguin classic" is in the works that will illuminate the event further) ) in a submarine off the coast of Argentina.
Another rumor has it that the bulge is a cigar cylinder purloined from Castros desk, filled with Adolphs toenail clippings and other droppings, to keep his son inspired.
Personally just between you and me and your readers..I lean towards the Aardvark hypothesis..they kinda resemble Hitlers tank designs more closely than the penguins do..you know, the Panzers at the Battle of the Bulge where Fritz Kraemer..Kissingers Nazi mentor, was found guilty of assisting in the "Malmedy Massaccre" of American G I's post WWll. (giggle with google on that bit of esoterica)
Depending on who you trust for sources..

why isn't it a prompter? All those guys use one, and it doesn't need to be a James Bond gadget either. its a standard public speaking tool. Commercial prompting systems don't cost that much and are widely used in public speaking. they are already pretty small. The secret service uses them everyday. the system is already there for christsake! Who cares if he uses it for press conferences. I'd love it if the prez could speak for himself but thats not Bush. I expect him to need all the help he can get.

He probably cheated during the debates too but good luck doing anything bout it now.
