How's it lookin'?

The site revamp is more-or-less complete. I'd love to hear your opinions.

MUCH better, Joseph. Nice work. Howev--the dates above your posts would be much easier to read if they were posted in black font. That's a minor complaint, I know, but...I'm alllll about minor complaints today.

I like it. It looks professional.

Looks nice. The black may work better as a dark orange to match with the flame and smoke at the top. But has to be just the right shade or you'll look too much like DKos :-)

Yeah, I agree with the note above me--I can barely read the "Observations on politics and society by Joseph Cannon" part. And I still say the dates about the posts would be more readable in black font.

I did like the utilitarian simplicity of the old site, but (unfortunately) things change, in spite of my strenuous efforts to stop progress...

Anyway, I like the apocalyptic atmosphere of this new one. The way the smoke occludes CANNONFIRE is to me a plus, not a negative.

The new set-up will be an expensive thing for me to print. The column width is about two words.

But, it looks good.

Nice to have the links at the top rather than below the Buzzflash headlines.

But those BF headlines are hard to read in red on black, especially given such short lines. Maybe nicer in white on 8A8A8A grey, to match headers on the left?

I think that it looks great. I love your site, and recommend it to friends...any chance that you'll add a message board?
Thanks.

Lookin' pretty sweet. Fire at the top is, dare I sound hickish... kick ass.

But the post-headers, at least on my laptop, are a tough red-on-black read. Same w/ BuzzFlash.

I *will* miss the bleak, solid, no-nonsense, 4-color-glory of old, but with Bush in office, I've come to live with missing quite a number of things.

good stuff. you really put the "fire" in cannonfire. ;)

Proud of you! Your old one wasn't bad, easy to read, etc. But I'll get used to the new format. BTW, the header is terrific! It's very original. (My icon for you on my bookmark is a cannonball, ready to explode.)

looks great except red-on-black column hard to read.

Right now, your website comes through without the smoke and fire at the top. Clean and lovely.
Would it be too much to have just a flash of flame and burst of gray smoke from the "O" in Cannonfire instead? More like an icon?

I think the new design looks great. The old site was awesome just as it was, but the new version is just as cool. I like the drama of the flame/smoke.

One suggestion-- with the red on black lettering that everyone's having trouble with, maybe space those paragraphs farther apart without indenting them. Might be easier to find the start of sentences/decipher etc.

Have been a big fan of your site for a while now. Thank you for all the hard work you do and for keeping us all connected with great links and important news. Keep it up!

I agree that the "Observations on politics and society by Joseph Cannon (cannonfiremail@yahoo.com)" is a bit difficult to read, particularly at the left side (lack of contrast). perhaps wrap it in a SPAN style="background: orange;" or something... though that has its own ugliness to it...

The new look is schmaltzy and over-the-top - I love it! Everyone needs a little schmaltz in their life. My only complaint is that when you hover over the links on the right they go to a darker red which is very hard, almost impossible, to read. It is irritating that when you are intrigued by something and deciding whether or not to click on it you suddenly can't read it.

As far as the advertising goes, I don't see why you shouldn't make money from your hard work and brilliant insights.

The Cannonfire heading looks great in that new color. It could be somewhat larger. I think you have recently reduced the font size. The white typeface below is more readable but it tends to dilute some of the impact. I would go back to the black typeface for your name and email address. Maybe you could lower it a bit into the yellow part of the flame to make it readable.

If you can get ads, fine with me. You are doing great work. Rewards are in order!

I've been away for a few weeks, and really did a double-take when I logged on today. I think it's great - the smoke, the added colors, and the "Cannonfire" give the site a really distinctive look. Nice work, Joseph.
