Giving Rove the old he-ho

The Treasongate piece everyone's talking about right now is Joe Conason's Salon article, which you can see here without the sign-in hassle. (Salon makes you sit through an ad for In Her Shoes starring Cameron Diaz. Some may say that it's not her shoes one wants to be in.) Conason offers much more on the possibility -- likelihood? -- that Rove lied to the FBI, back in the days when the investigation was "under control," back when the Arrogant One probably felt no need to tell the truth about anything.

The really intriguing part of Conason's article concerns the Jeff Gannon connection, and the hastily cobbled-together "intelligence document" which Rove may (or may not) have passed along to him for that attempted "gotcha" interview with Joe Wilson. The article contains nothing truly new, but it does serve to remind us of Gannon's role. Any probe of how the he-ho got access to Rove (and, it would seem, to classified data) might well delve into an even more troubling question: Why did a male prostitute spend so many nights at the White House (as Gannon apparently did) -- a place where many people work but only one man resides?

Okay, let's forget the intelligent post here for just one second so I can write--Joseph? Was that a snide comment about Cameron Diaz? I love Cameron Diaz. She's one of my celebrity heroes--I have so few, I treasure them all. Please don't mock Ms. Diaz on Cannonfire. She's great. Thanks.

It's just an old, mildly dirty joke, Jen. I think I first heard it in The Ruling Class (1972). Variations have popped up from time to time in the years since.

Yes, I think I got that it was an off-color joke...or maybe I didn't, my brain is a little fried...but I would hate to see C.D. somehow be disparaged on this blog. It would make me sad. Okay. Maybe some more coffee would be good for me today.

Uh, Jen -- a celebrity hero? What in the name of Tom Cruise is that? No offense, dear, but exactly what heroic accomplishments has Ms. Diaz accomplished? Now please take a VERY deep breath, count to ten slowly, and then say over and over again (for as long as it takes) -- "I will get a life, I will get a life, I will get a life, etc."

About the he-ho: Mr. Cannon, are you suggesting that the he-ho and Dumbya were doing the dirty? Whoa!!!! Made my day! That's a helluva lot sexier than a blowjob from an overweight intern (with all due respect to all you Monica Lewinsky celebrity hero worshippers). Fred Mertz

I promise that this blog shall remain free of any disparaging commentary directed toward either Jen or Cameron Diaz, whom I think is cute. Although my tastes in movie-star lust run more toward Chaterine Zeta-Jones. (Incidentally, did you see those new Zorro ads? D'ya think her cleavage was photoshop-ically enhanced? I don't know. But I can tell you that there are a few folks who make a living engineering that sort of thing...)

Dear Fred Mertz:

thanks for your funny comment:

"About the he-ho: Mr. Cannon, are you suggesting that the he-ho and Dumbya were doing the dirty? Whoa!!!! "

however, the old he-ho (I love this new term by the way as it is a wonderful pun on "heave-ho" thank you Joseph) could just as well as been giving blow jobs to Rove himself or acting as a top. I can't imagine that Rove has any physical interest in women whatsoever.

Didn't Joseph in an earlier post say the Barbara Bush had her son detoxed and degayed at 40?

there are plenty of rumors going around that he had affairs with at least one of his college roommates and that come to think of it, W has never been known for being a ladies man.

In the Castro district of San Francisco where I live, there are several humorous posters of Bush all done up in drag blown, smiling, and he looks pretty good as a female!

Maybe W is a woman trapped inside a man's body! no wonder he drinks so much and has been known to get high so much on recreational drugs.

I can't believe I was flamed in the comments section of Joe's blog. I'm perversely flattered.

So, if this is gonna be a Cameron Diaz thread...

Hey, Jen, I love Cameron too, even from the days she was modeling as Cameron Mitchell, and respect her greatly.

She has made a lot of dumb movies, granted, but she is a wonderful dancer, hot if not subtle actress, and a pretty fine comic actress -- I'll never forget her cackling down the aisle in that movie whose name and plot I forget -- some sort of thing like she's romancing Julia Roberts' husband? oh who knows.

Her life story is a bit of an inspiration. She (not unlike Lucy Lawless) made her 20s a time of independence and successful adventure, then came back to films as very much her own woman.

She's beautiful, she's gonna age gorgeously, she seems like an intelligent, interesting and nicely wacko person, and maybe they'll let her do smarter movies in the future.

Same token, I don't know if Joseph's comment was really snide. Or mocking. Kinda appreciative, I thought, if only on a different plane. Let's face it, Cameron is, to steal a phrase, a hottie.

Breaking back to topic, yes, we should NEVER let them forget Gannon/Gucky.

As to Bush, rumor has it he's actually a lizard trapped in a quasi-human body. But he might well be a female lizard. He's certainly laid enough eggs.

Well, for the official record, I didn't actually think Joe was writing anything truly mean about Cameron Diaz, but, as I posted above, I couldn't exactly tell at first, because, sometimes I read this site before my brain has satisfied its morning coffee requirement.

Also for the official record, I like Cameron Diaz because she pursued a career in film and found great success there even after being initially told her looks weren't enough for Hollywood, particularly the film world of Hollywood. Apparently, it had something to do with her skin, which isn't perfect, especially by Hollywood standards (I've also read that she refuses to do anything creepy or risky to try to correct her adult acne, but I doubt the validity of those rumors somewhat, as her complexion always looks fine to me). So, go Cameron! The secret of success is not always so much tenacity, but self-satsifaction (and confidence). Well, unless you're George Bush, and then it's about theft, treason, bribery and murder.
