Bush off the wagon?

The National Enquirer has reported that Katrina sent Bush back to the bottle. While the folks over at Democratic Underground are debating whether the report is true (personally, I think he started boozing it up well before this summer; his debate performances indicated as much), most of the commentators have missed the important point.

Why the hell did the National Enquirer report this story? Never mind whether the report is accurate. Why did it appear there?

The tabs are all owned by American Media (AMI) -- a very right-wing firm. Those of a paranoid turn of mind tend to consider it a spooked-up firm.

The tabs almost always promote Republicans and fundamentalism -- and they love to slam Democrats and Hollywood.

Take the case of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who, we now know, had an extramarital dalliance with a woman named Gigi Goyette. If he were a Democrat, the tabs would have emblazoned this private sin across their headlines continually. But since he is a Republican -- and since Arnold has strong ties to AMI's fitness publications -- the Enquirer paid Goyette for exclusive rights to her story, for a book that was never written. In other words: Hush money.

It gets worse. AMI also paid a couple of grand to suppress a semi-salacious Playboy video of the Governator.

There's a long, long history of this kind of conservative bias -- a history which can be traced back to the founder of the Enquirer, Generoso Pope, who had strong and undeniable ties to both the CIA and the mob.

So why is the Enquirer publishing a negative story about Bush?

If the Volkischer Beobachter had ever published a story slamming Hitler, you would know that something very weird was afoot...

Good call, Joe, that Enquirer piece IS weird. What next, "allegations" about Bush's "secret" gay lifestyle? I can't figure out the N.E.'s motives there--a reminder to Bush that the "base" is unhappy? A way of preparing the lower echelon of that base for Bush's imminent departure? Yes, yes, a departure is probably too much to hope for at this point. Or IS it?

Or Kennedy and Monroe?

Or Teddy Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne?

People on both sides have done it, and people on both sides have been lambasted by the press. MoveOn.

2 reason to do it.

It sells papers, money is king.

or

To make George appear human and show just how deeply he was hurt by the storm etc.

One thing that will be interesting to follow, will the story migrate into the Main Stream, or stay an Enquier

This is just the latest in a number of bush-killer stories released lately by the MSM.

I might speculate that there is an internal war going on (is that surprising?), that poppy and barb have a big warchest and no qualms about eliminating any threats, but that there is a large and growing faction intent on whacking the chimp. He is always so embarrassing don't you know, and never seems to know what to say...

I wondered the same thing when Reverand Moon's Washington Times ran the Regan/Bush White House Pedophile Ring story.

I do believe he's been drinking and probably getting high on painkillers for a while now, but we saw nothing about this in the MSM or "tabloid" press. Therefore, I'm wondering about the timing of this "revelation," and wonder if this is a deliberate leak by Herr Roverer.

With the chimp on the ropes and the neocon agenda tanking under the weight of Irag, Katrina, and now probably Rita, it may be time to throw a big Hale Mary. That is, feed the story to a sympathetic outlet or two, let the "scandal" grow, and then get chimpy to to offer a tearful mea culpa. His base will then rally around his "victimhood." By his base, of course, I mean everyone from the religious neocon Pat Robertson crowd to the drunken trailer park trash living in the Bible-belt.

The theory posted above re: Bush's imminent demise freaks me out about as bad as they usually do, despite how unlikely I still feel this possibility actually is. I continue to believe that the only thing worse for Bush's opponents and America than Bush's continued presence in office is his death in office. Particularly if said death could be made to look like the work of "terrariztz."

Is that something like a papparatzzi, Jen? Remember what they did to Princess Di.

So according to the Enquirer it was "family" sources that told of this.

Is he going to be retired for 'health' reasons? You know, his wife told him the pressure was too great, and that empathising with all who suffer was taking a toll...that kind of stuff.

Much as it wouldn't do any decent person any harm, if this mass murderer did get whacked...

Being in the UK, I wasn't previously aware that he'd been exposed as a convicted criminal a few days before the 2000 election (drunk driving)... Remarkable that so many headlines focused on his arrest, not his conviction.

Is there a point at which this freak's retardedness can become a fetter on what the faction behind him are doing? Surely yes, somewhere, there must be such a point. Especially if the plan is for a Republican victory in 2008.

Thanks for bringing my attention to this article, Joseph.

I have recently started reading blogs and came across your blog about work at home internet business opportunity and wanted to let you know that it must take time and dedication keeping a blog going. I have a website about work at home internet business opportunity and it keeps me really busy. Looking at all these blogs I think I may need to start my own blog one day. Keep up the good work. One day blogs may replace TV and newspapers for those of us who spend our time on the internet.

Think that could give you some Search Engine popularity, and traffic???

Aloha Blogger, I'm in Hawaiian mood as I'm listening to Ki ho'alu music (If you've not heared this type of guitar music then you are in for a treat!) so I'm not really concentrating very hard but I came across ##TITlE## looking up gen on business mlm opportunity xango. Anything to do with business mlm opportunity xango I always look at, though I do have a tendency to wander about in blogs just reading generally.
