Best news I've heard all day...

The Murdoch dynasty may soon end. It seems that bad Bob's eldest son Lachlan has decided to split from the empire, and so the whole thing might be up to a board of directors. It is, after all, a publicly-traded company.

Is it still possible for the neocon propagandists to maintain a stranglehold on the operation? Yep. So let's not dance in the streets just yet. Although the passing of Murdoch the Elder will, in and of itself, be worthy of a jig or two.

My fantasy (bear with me folks, I've had allergy drugs): some smart, moderate-looking liberal out there in media, who hasn't done anything overtly political in awhile, sneaks in under the radar at Fox and manages to shatter some of the illusions being manufactured by its current leadership. You know, just, one day, have the reporters start asking Scott some more real questions. Or "accidentally" slip some real footage from Iraq into the lunch-hour broadcasts. Maybe after covertly scaling back the spin for a couple of months beforehand. I'm not saying that would "work" with a great deal of the brainwashed Jesus Zombies, who would probably figure out the coup and only be all, "WTF? Where's my misogyny and bigotry?" But it might change one or two minds. Before the secret leftie executive was deep-sixed after the coup, anyway. I'm not saying this person is out there, or that if he is, he would be able to convince the Fox network to let him work there, or that he'd be willing to take one for the team in quite this fashion. Yet, if he is--it's your grandkids' future on the line, you know? And possibly your own. And I don't even think it's that "possibly."

Murdoch has not produced a lot of stellar financials. He's tolerated because he carries the water for the rest of corporate America: you know tax cuts for the rich, no enviroinmental laws, slave labor, out-sourcing. When supporting Bush becomes unnecessary or unwise, there will be a sudden focus on dear old Rupert's financials...and he will be toast. Let's hasten the day...no more Bush (and then Murdoch falls for good).
