What if massive vote irregularities hit us again? Some say they are
already cropping up. My own suggestion as to how to deal with vote fraud --unrelenting civil unrest and a general strike until a fair revote takes place -- seems to have attracted few converts. Here's another possibility: An
emergency recount commission. It
can happen, but we all need to get behind this idea
right now.
I'm white but I live in a mostly black nabe and in a building of 127 people of whom around 115 are black. The building and neighborhood are almost totally Kerry supporters. It has been suggested to me that if a fraud occurs again like the one in the election in 2000 there will be rioting in the streets. I believe that black voters feel the injustice that occured in 2000 more accutely than white voters...though I could be wrong about that.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, it seems to me that civil action and rioting in the streets would be a totally appropriate response this time around.
