I'm a devoted reader of Bill McKibben and Elizabeth Kolbert. Philip Roth also, who came to mind when I visited sludgie.com: (from "Letting Go") "It's the sort of news that ceases to be news upon the hearing of it." Yesterday I was reading wonkette for a change and was surprised to find a sidebar 'ad' linking to the worst videos of food-animal slaughter and torture I'd ever seen (or read about) - and I thought I'd seen the worst already.
Colony Collapse Disorder. Its what the ancients used to describe as an "omen". I think these days we call them "symptoms of environmental stress".

Oh, my God. A comment. Without meanness or sexism or stupidity. AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI should mention that Jen reposted this info at my request.
