The most vile thing Trump has ever said

I can't think of anything more emetic than this:
President Trump said Wednesday that it would be “easy” for the United States to form new alliances if Syrian Kurds leave the fight against the Islamic State to fend off a Turkish attack, noting that “they didn’t help us in the Second World War, they didn’t help us in Normandy” and were only interested in fighting for “their land.”
Britain was not self-interested on D-Day? Private Bone Spurs didn't exactly leap at the opportunity to help us in Vietnam. Incidentally, Trump borrowed this "Normandy" line from a column by far-right sicko Kurt Schlichter, who favors a second Civil War. In 1944, guys like Schlichter rooted for the other side at Normandy.

Republicans: Even if my theory is correct, how much more of this crap can you tolerate?

Added note. One of my readers, also named joseph, opened my eyes to an important bit of history:
The Kurds did help in World War 2 You know who didn't particularly help? The Turks, who were neutral until February of 1945. No Turkish troops saw action.
I can take things further. Turkey was allied with the Germans in World War I. That was when they perpetrated the original genocide -- the massacre of the Armenians -- which Hitler cited as a model for his destruction of Poland -- and, later, of the Jews. (I hope that modern readers will rediscover Franz Werfel's second-most famous book, which tells that story. The Turks keep preventing film versions; perhaps now is the time.) The fate of the Kurds may resemble what happened to the Armenians.

Donald's cowardly father, Fred Trump, refused to serve during World War II. And Trump outrageously told his second wife that he would end support payments for Tiffany if she ever joined the military.

The Turks actually provided vital raw materials to the Nazi jet engine programme.

The explanation for the places in Wisconsin where more than 100% of registered voters is registrations on the day of the vote. Has anyone checked if the number of registered voters has actually increased?

Trump throwing Kurds under the bus has its roots in the Trump/Putin Helsinki summit. Remember that hangdog look Trump had and Putin's barely concealed glee as they stepped to the dias?
