As his prominence as a voice against sexual misconduct has risen, so, too, has the distress of four women with whom he has had romantic relationships or encounters. They accuse Schneiderman of having subjected them to nonconsensual physical violence. All have been reluctant to speak out, fearing reprisal. But two of the women, Michelle Manning Barish and Tanya Selvaratnam, have talked to The New Yorker on the record, because they feel that doing so could protect other women. They allege that he repeatedly hit them, often after drinking, frequently in bed and never with their consent. Manning Barish and Selvaratnam categorize the abuse he inflicted on them as “assault.” They did not report their allegations to the police at the time, but both say that they eventually sought medical attention after having been slapped hard across the ear and face, and also choked. Selvaratnam says that Schneiderman warned her he could have her followed and her phones tapped, and both say that he threatened to kill them if they broke up with him. (Schneiderman’s spokesperson said that he “never made any of these threats.”)These allegations are coming now? At this time?
This is too damned convenient. Remember, Schneiderman was the one looking to close the loophole which prevents NY from bringing charges against those pardoned by Trump. This is a set-up. This is a scheme to protect Cohen and Manafort and Flynn.
I don't care who is making these accusations or what the state of the evidence might be. If Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Buddha and Confucius were all to appear in a vision before my eyes and say: "Sorry, but it's true," you know what my reply would be? I'd give those assembled worthies a one-word answer: "Bullshit."
If Dr. Who told me "Honest, it really is true. I'll take you in my TARDIS to see the actual events unfold. Allons-y!" -- my response would be: "So. They got to you too?" And then I'd tell him what to do with his sonic thingamajig.
In a statement, Schneiderman said, “In the privacy of intimate relationships, I have engaged in role-playing and other consensual sexual activity. I have not assaulted anyone. I have never engaged in nonconsensual sex, which is a line I would not cross.”This is the great fear-scenario for all those who engage in BDSM-style games.
I'm not buying what these women are selling. Not for a second. Not after what happened to Franken.
There's going to be an agonizing amount of pressure put on Schneiderman to "confess" to something he did not do, just as there was in the Franken case.
I don't have a link to hand (although I can dig up a link if folks insist), but during the recent Joy Reid pseudoscandal a prominent gay writer on DU encouraged Reid to "confess" and apologize even if she did not actually send the tweets which were supposedly offensive to gays. That is the devil's advice -- and Democrats must stop heeding it.
Fight this thing, Mr. Attorney General. Fight it the way Trump would fight it. Brass it out. Get angry. Hit back, and hit harder. Don't concede an inch.
That's the strategy that works.
We can't let the bastards force out Schneiderman they way they forced out Franken. Frankly, at this stage of the game, A.G. Schneiderman is an even more important figure than Franken was -- and Franken once had a decent shot at the presidency.
Added note: The bots and trolls have inundated the few sites that have so far carried this story. Within minutes of publication, Media-ite was flooded with commentary in an apparent coordinated attack.
More evidence that this thing is an op.
Update: Schneiderman has resigned. I cannot emphasize enough how disastrous this situation is. Trump now can offer pardons to his cronies, and Mueller cannot use to cudgel of state charges to induce cooperation. In other words: No flipping.
In other words, Trump will escape Ruissiagate unscathed. He just won re-election.
MeToo? FUCK YOU. MeToo=GOP.

Just to show the lunacy, there's this https://www.chronicle.com/article/he-makes-a-joke-she-isn-t/243350
Whatever the KGB calls itself now, I reckon it's still capable of false flag operations.
But, DAMN, Vlad! FOUR accusers?
I guess Vlad believes There Is No Kill Like Overkill. (h/t TVTropes)
Can't whoever replaces Schneiderman bring NY State charges?
But yes, this is such a "lucky coincidence" for the Trump Crime Family that I suspect Putin is making the "luck".

Remember that you said this. Come 3 November, 2020, you will be proven correct. President Trump is going to win that election and I'll remember you for having the foresight and wherewithal to see that coming. In this day and age where everyone is convinced that there's no way Trump will win the 2020 election because the Democrats will throw Biden (a New Democrat who has more in common with Reagan than Roosevelt), Harris (a New Democrat BUT the added perk of being a female), Sanders (a Socialist), Booker (a New Democrat but he's BLACK! the second coming of Obama) and other fuckwits they could array against Trump. And the DNC will lose again.
Because when you run right-wingers against a right-winger, the right-winger will win every single time. And the Democratic Party is a solidly right-wing party in competition with a Far-right theocratic party that hates republicanism but has the audacity to call itself the Republican Party.
Trump 2020.
Hopefully Schneiderman left a competent assistant in charge and the investigation moves forward.
Watch the print and broadcast news media reaction, how they report on this coloring the Trump investigation will reveal what journalists are on Vlad's payroll.
2000 proved there are rat fuckers working for republicans at the New York Times and Washington Post as well as network TV.
Maybe Schneiderman was compromised and it was better to get him out of the way before charges are brought. Don't fall into the cult of personalities. That is what gave us Trump.
For the most part, I'm with you is presuming the worst, Joseph. But in this case, a prosecutor's office is a large operation and does not depend on one personality. I Hope.
From TPM:
“Absolutely nothing changes,” James Tierney, former director of the National State Attorney General Program and lecturer at Harvard University, told TPM.
“He’s got a great staff,” Tierney continued. “Nothing is going to change. There’s no legal difference.”
That post is much more detailed and worth reading, Link:

ps Hope you're well, Joseph.
Joseph, have you seen the news today involving Peter Gleason and a connection to Cohen and Trump being behind the revelations about Schneiderman? And Farrow's response?
I'm waiting to see how things shake out but...if this was a hit job on Schneiderman, then Cohen and Trump are in a heap more trouble, Farrow has egg on his face...but we'll see.
