It's a fake! A FAKE, I tells ya! AIEEE!

I was wondering how long it would take for the mighty righties to scream that the new birth certificate is a fake. Not long at all.
If the original document was in a bound volume (as reflected by the curvature of the left hand side of the certificate), how can the green patterned background of the document's safety paper be so seamless?
Duh. Because the folks who handle these things in Hawaii apparently print everything (including scanned-in documents) on paper with that pattern.
• Why, if Obama was born on August 4, 1961, was the “Date Accepted by Local Reg.” four days later on August 8, 1961?
Dunno. Can you think of any reason why a faker would do it that way? I mean, if you're going to hoax up a document, why put in something like that? What would be the purpose?
• What is the significance of the smudges in the box containing the name of the reported attendant?
Dunno. But I've seen lots of documents with smudges. Can you think of any reason for a faker to put in smudges? How does this detail convenience the hoax theory?
• In the “This Birth” box there are two mysterious Xs above “Twin” and “Triplet.” Is there a sibling or two unaccounted for?
If it's a fake, then why are those mistakes in there? Can you think of any reason for a faker to put in misplaced marks? How does this detail convenience the hoax theory? Have you never seen a document with marks put in the wrong place?

Why are there all sorts of oddly-placed marks decorating this certificate of birth? Is Susan Nordyke another hoaxer?
• What is the significance of the mysterious numbers, seen vertically, on the document’s right side?
That's obvious. The number 276 is an area code for Virginia -- home of the CIA!
• Finally, the “Signature of Local Registrar” in box 21 may be a desperate attempt at establishing the document’s Hawaiian authenticity. Note to forgers: it is spelled “Ukulele.”
Looks like "Vick Lee" to me. Is it so odd for there to be a guy named Vick Lee in Hawaii in 1961?

(As coincidence would have it, I used to know a girl from that state named Vicky Lee. Oh my God -- you think she's in on this?)

And here we have "Photoshop expert" Mara Zebest -- the third listed author of Inside Photoshop CS -- explaining why the document is an "obvious" fake. The arguments she presents strike me as almost unfathomably stupid. (Again with the stupid background pattern!) I can rebut this nonsense in detail, if the readers have any interest -- but I don't think that many do.

The #1 forgery theory going at this moment seems to be about some suspicious "layers" in the doc. It's almost as idiotic as the one above- but I'm sure they will eventually get more sophisticated (at least in their use of authoritative jargon).

If/when that happens I'd be interested in your take.

Gosh, they beat me to it in the Nutter Dept. I was going to start the rumor that the last Hawaii Department of Records clerk that was working in 1961 passed away so Team Obama released this fraudulent long form certificate. Or something like that.

Anyway I'm looking forward to their repeatedly pegging the needle on the Loon-o-meter in the days to come.

ok,
Lets for a moment assume that this document is 100% real.(Which I do believe)

Can you explain to me these 2 small issues.
1.) Why did it take him 2 years to produce this form of the certificate?
2.) Why did he spend A LOT of money in Pennsylvania keeping this topic from going to court?

Mr. Cannon, why have you fallen for a magician's trick? The issue has always been whether or not Barack Obama is a Natural Born Citizen

Joseph Cannon said...

Sandro, you're wacky. I've discussed the matter ad infinitum. Obama would have been a citizen even if born on Mars.

http://cannonfire.blogspot.com/search?q=natural+born+citizen

I reprint SEC. 301. [8 U.S.C. 1401] in its entirety.

Are you saying that Obama would have been something other than a natural born citizen even while stipulating that he was born on U.S. soil? You're nuts.

Don't cite some trash written by a conspiracy crank (and I really don't care if said crank has a law degree). The, and I mean THE only thing I want out of you is citation of actual U.S. code. If you are too damned lazy to look up the law, then don't mouth off about what they law means.

Sandro, like many another outside-the-mainstream thinker, you believe that you know better than we mere mortals because you've taken the proverbial red pill that confereth hipness. But the only thing in that pill is just bad acid, dude.

NB: The fact that it took Obama two years to produce the birth certificate is not consistent with the conspiracy scenario. If Obama were covering up a foreign birth, he would have had his fake certificate ready well in advance and would have produced it immediately, so as to quell unseemly speculation.

I agree with Alessandro. This whole BC thing is a distraction. The issue is Obama's dual citizenship. The framers made it a point to make a distinction between Natural Born Citizen and Citizen, exempting only themselves. That is the conversation the nation should've been having.

Zee (Joseph I'm signing in this way because the usual Name/URL is demanding a Google account now, damn them.)

What's with this? It's like the 2006 attack of the CDers, all over again...

We've thrashed out this "natural born citizen" crap already. You are offering pseudo-legalistic horsecrap. Sort of like Aaron Russo talking about taxes.

Enough. We're running a respeckable joint around here.

So if Gaddafi fathered a child with a U.S. citizen, that child would be both a U.S. Citizen AND a Natural Born U.S citizen?

Only if Gaddafi came to live in the United States (and it doesn't even have to be by the time the baby is born) and eventually, preferably before that offspring announced their decision to run for office, became a U.S. citizen.

Simple things like filing a U.S. tax return is a form of vetting and it would be nice to at least know that both mom and dad had done that a few times before their offspring declared to run for presidency.

When I open the pdf in Illustrator there are a series of links (embedded photos?) not layers. Here is the WH pdf
http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-long-form.pdf
Open it in Illustrator and if you can explain the links. I can't as yet but would like to know why they are there. Thanks.

I misstated above. There are are both links and layers in the pdf file when viewed in Illustrator. I can't figure out why. Can you?

Greg said...

OK. Here is an explanation for the layers from the National Review of all places.

What do you think?

Joseph Cannon said...

Sandro, if I had responded to your nonsense earlier I would have said something ugly.

"So if Gaddafi fathered a child with a U.S. citizen, that child would be both a U.S. Citizen AND a Natural Born U.S citizen?"

If the kid was born on U.S. territory, YES.

Anything else is bullshit squared.

I can cite the law to prove the point. Citizenship is defined in the 14th amendment and in U.S. code: Section 8, title 1401. You have yet to cite a single law.

Citizenship is not conferred by paternity. (Hell, how could it be? Before DNA testing, how could one be sure of paternity?) It is conferred by birthplace.

You nuts keep talking as though the phrase "natural born citizen" has some special definition unknown to the hoi polloi. It doesn't. Look at the words: "Natural born citizen" means just that -- citizenship conferred at birth. Not citizenship gained through any other means. You don't have to take a test or say an oath or anything like that. If you are a citizen because you are born a citizen, then you are a natural born citizen.

THERE IS NO OTHER DEFINITION OF THE PHRASE.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is a fucking liar.

Alessandro Machi said...

Joseph, it's somewhat ridiculous of you to go on and on about Natural Born Citizen when you can just look it up on Wikkipedia.

The basic early on sentiment, (from over 200 years ago), was desiring that BOTH PARENTS at the very least, live on U.S. soil.

Now, name me a president whose parents basically rejected the United States and moved elsewhere. NAME ONE.

Joseph Cannon said...

Sandro, I've rad that Wikipedia passage carefully. I've also read the 14th amendment and the relevant passages of U.S. code, as well as summaries of the relevant Supreme Court cases.

You're nuts. Just plain bugfuck nuts.

So WHAT if Obama is the first president whose Dad was a citizen of another country? How does that fact change the text of the Constitution and U.S. Code?

This is a matter of LAW were talking about here, and you act as though U.S. civil code were irrelevant.

Anything further you send me on this topic will be unpublished UNLESS you cite the law.

When I open the .pdf in wordpad there are lots of foreign letters and symbols proving Obama is a foreigner. /snark

If Barack Obama is the first president to have had a father who basically reneged on living in the United States to become a Kenyan politician, that just goes along with the thesis that all of our past presidential elections were wary of electing a president who was not a Natural Born Citizen.

It's interesting how if there had been a father prior to Barack Obama who reneged on living in the United States, that would be used as evidence to discredit Natural Born citizen, but since once can't be found, then suddenly it becomes "irrelevant". Talk about two timing hypocrisy.

Barack Obama has made a habit of using political technicalities and loopholes in every race he has ever run, but now when a technicality doesn't serves against his interests, he's decided it just doesn't exist.

If there had been another candidate running with Barack Obama's background, and Barack had had parents who lived in the United States, We both know the other candidate would have been disqualified courtesy of Barack Obama.

I can even visualize the speech Mr. Obama would make about the importance of Natural Born Citizenship and the presidency.
