Why are the culprits still free?

David Brooks wants lots more war in Afghanistan. Does David Brooks have a right to offer advice on peace and war? Sure, in the same sense that Mohammed Atta had a right to offer advice on how to land a plane.

If you haven't seen it yet, you must read Glenn Greenwald's trip through yesteryear. Even if you think you remember 2002-2003, you'll be shocked by these reminders of the sheer toxicity of the intellectual environment. Brooks -- March, 2003:
So now we stand at an epochal moment. The debate is over. The case has gone to the jury, and the jury is history. Events will soon reveal who was right, Bush or Chirac...
The jury has indeed rendered a verdict. So why are the culprits still free?

Accountiibility only applies to regular folks. Politicians, media pundits and CEOs are treated like weathermen.

Joe, it is hilarious that the same pundits who have been so wrong for so many years are still out there slinging the shit...it's hilarious! David Brooks?? HAHAHAHA!!

Thanks for bringing up the reminders about the nastiness of 2002 & 2003, Joe. You keep mentioning 1994 as the weirdest of the weird, (and as far right as we ever got) but to me, it was the summer, fall and winter of '02/'03 that take the cake in that category. I remember not being able to go anywhere, especially not in a car with only mainstream radio stations, without being saturated in war propaganda. Plus, unlike other periods of hard right domination in America (well, the ones I can remember, anyway) including the mid eighties and the Winter of Hate, I felt that the left of '02/03 was utterly powerless. Yes, I know many of us were trying to do our part, but the hold the MSM had on national debate was so severe, I felt like next to no Democratic voices were getting through.
