Let's look at the history... (Added note)

Ashley Todd, the McCain volunteer who claimed that an assailant carved a B into her face, appears to have mental problems. So why was this story so believable?

Because it fits into a pattern. Among the many comments which I did not allow to be published, YET ANOTHER death threat from an Obot came my way this morning. That makes four. Having been on the receiving end of endless verbal violence from Obama's monstrous mind-controlled zombies, I remain inclined to believe reports of physical violence.

Here's one of the previous threats. (Because of the way Blogger's comment moderation system works, comments disappear into the cyber-void if I do not choose to publish them; I cannot copy, paste and save them.):
Do the species a favor and kill yourself. Better yet, tell me where you live and I'll come do it for you.
This morning's example of the genre involved a reference to firearms. Rather unimaginative, I think. At any rate, it certainly did little to convince me that Obama followers are a peaceful lot.

By the way -- no-one has denied or doubted the story of Rog Coverly, the McCain headquarters manager in Seminole County, Florida whose house was shot up.

I heard from one clown who opined that Ashley's bizarre behavior means that we should toss out all of the "lies" concerning Tony Rezko and the Illinois Combine. This stance reminded me of the case of one Binjamin Wilkomirski, a fantasist who claimed to be a Holocaust survivor. When his fables were punctured (he was born in 1941, in Switzerland, where he stayed throughout his childhood), Holocaust revisionists pointed to the incident as "proof" that all evidence of the genocide was fabricated!

In the aftermath of the Ashley Todd story, many Obots are mimicking those revisionists. They forget that the fantasist was believed because the fantasy fit an all-too-real pattern of behavior.

Wilkomirski fooled so many people precisely because everyone knew what the Nazis had done. Similarly, Ashley proved persuasive because the Obots have an undeniable history of behaving like -- well, like Nazis. One day, the Obama movement will be considered every bit as aberrant and monstrous as the McCarthy movement.

Can we forget that Keith Olbermann explicitly called for Hillary's murder, on the air (anyone who interprets his plain words any other way is a fool) -- and kept his job? Can we forget the other threats against Hillary Clinton? Can we forget the death threats against voices within the PUMA movement? Should we forget the ugliness and threats suffered by Paula Abeles?

Should we forget that when radio host Tavis Smiley received death threats after mildly criticizing Obama? Should we forget that Donna Brazile threatened "There will be blood" if Obama did not get the nomination? Are we to forget this...?
“African-American superdelegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving “nasty letters, phone calls, threats they’ll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.

“This is the politics of the 1950s,” he complained. “A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. They’re not going to talk about it, but it’s happening.”
Rep. Diane E. Watson (D-Calif.), a black lawmaker and Clinton backer, said the intense lobbying for Obama would not alter her vote.

“I’ve gotten threatening mail,” Watson said.
Should we forget what happened to radio host Steve Corbett?
In the thousands of emails I’ve received in the year that “Corbett” has been on the air, I have not received a single death threat - until yesterday.

“We will kill you when Obama become PRESIDENT OF USA.,” the email reads. “You would see!!!”

Most death threats do not result in death.

But some do.

What makes this threat to kill me all the more mysterious is that it appears to have been sent through Barack Obama’s official campaign website – barackobama.com – the website that sends me official announcements of Obama’s campaign comings and goings.
Not once...not once has Barack Obama denounced this repeated pattern of behavior. Indeed, he has encouraged thuggishness in his followers, especially when he gave Hillary the middle finger during a public speech as his sick followers cheered.

I, for one, will not forget the violent language repeatedly encountered on the pro-Obama blogs. In the past, I've been able to give only a sampling of atrocities repeated hourly. Here's a brief sampling of those samplings, offered here as a reminder. (Use the search engine above to find the original posts.)

On the hacking of Sarah Palin's private email account:
"SHE DESERVED IT. What she's buried under her double-wide would be interesting."
From the official Obama website, re: Hillary:
"Just slit her throat, lock her in a car boot, and drive the car into river in West Virginia. Ain’t gonna let no whore screw with the man"
More on Hillary:
She is OFFICIALLY a fucked up human piece of trash.
Re, Bill Clinton, just before his convention speech:
Hey Bill:

FUCK YOU. HARD.

Get the fuck over yourself....

Quit being a sore fucking loser about this and get your shit together. If your loser wife makes even the slightest fucking misstep during her speech tonight, or if you half-ass your way through your speech tomorrow ("Waaahhh, I don't wanna talk about national security!"), the both of you will be on the permanent shit list for the Democratic Party.
You, sir, are unquestionably, A DOUCHEBAG and a criminal one at that.
Bush Clinton crime family must be eradicated.
On the PUMAs:
"They're all crazy cunts, taze them all!!!!!!"
The menses makes the ladies crazy and unhinged. That's why we can never have a woman as president. They'd get all PMS-ish and start a nuclear war.
On Hillary:
The good news is if Clinton wins (steals) the presidency she will likely be assassinated within a week. She is a total lying gas bag hag and deserves to [go to] her maker for what will only be described as a truly karmic moment which will last for all eternity.
"The Clintons shoud have been arrested long ago; Travelgate, Whitewater, Vince Foster's supposed suicide"
"Hillary is a liar and a cunt"
She’s a monster who just won’t die. In fact, she really should just die. You can buy a urinal target with her face on it to express what you really think of her. OMG she’s got claws! She’s crazy. In fact, she’s a lunatic. She’s petty and vindictive and entitled. She’s a washed-up old hag. She’s “everybody’s first wifestanding outside probate court.” She’s a “scolding mother.” She’s shrill… shrill… shrill. She can’t take it when people are mean to her. She’s a “hellish housewife.” She’s Tanya Harding. She CAN’T be President, what with the mood swings and the menses.Any woman who votes for her is voting with her vagina, not her brain. Women only like Hillary because she’s a fellow Vagina-American. And because they vote with their feelings. Frankly, anyone who still thinks we need “feminine role models” should get over it and move on, already. Oh, and men who supporther are castratos in the eunuch chorus
As readers know, there is plenty more where that came from.

By the way...
I note that the O-monsters refused to comment on this part of my previous story:
Obama reversed himself on FISA, which means that he wants the power to tap the phones of all opponents. In Missouri, the Obama movement used Sheriffs and prosecutors to put together a "truth squad" to intimidate critics of Barack Obama. Obama makes no secret of his desire to erect a massive "civilian security force." And the RAND Corporation was tasked with considering the best ways to implement a new domestic intelligence agency.

These ingredients -- a cult of personality, new tools of state repression, unfettered snooping -- all point in a dangerous direction. The threat can be reduced to two words: Power and ego.
Added note: Most people are presuming that Ashley Todd has mental health issues. That presumption may be true, although only a professional psychiatrist or psychologist can make the diagnosis. But should we not make the same presumption of mental illness in the case of Dana Milbank, who invented the story that McCain supporters shouted "Kill him" when Sarah Palin mentioned the name of Barack Obama? The Secret Service determined the story to be false, yet the progs continue to treat it as gospel. Yet Milbank continues to earn money, while Ashley has earned only ignominy. Double standard!

Thanks for the update and your take on it. I agree that the cult of personality and the thugs which are part of it make one less inclined to believe the worst. As more time goes on and I continue to read about Obama and all of his connections it makes me very concerned, not just that he might be elected, but that he really could make Bush 2 look good. I had the same feelings about his FISA vote that you are expressing now. Let's hope that it just seems like a bad dream because of the intensified feelings about an election, but......... And here's something kinda crazy from the "vast right-wing conspiracy" but I can't put it out of my mind. I don't think I've read your take on it, but would love to. Odinga.

Powerful post. Two things. One, what was interesting was that the conservative sites seemed much more invested in going for the truth of this matter, though the heavens fall, than any Obamaphiles ever seemed concerned with the truth of the RFK smear, the alleged threats at Palin rallies, etc.

Second, insofar as one reader's opinion matters, I have much respect for how you handled this. You didn't feel the need to doubt a story of a violent attack on a woman, or go after the woman in question. You put up the story, didn't entertain any smears about this woman without the full facts, and when the facts came out, you printed the update. That's how to do it.

And I agree, it was so damn easy to believe, given every example you've cited, and more.

"Out of Control" behavior never should be ignored. It needs to be confronted immediately. How else will it be stopped? Would parents allow this behavior from their children? And if a child behaves like this, what is expected from them in the future? It always gets worse!

For some reason, this is allowed to pass when it shouldn't. Any and all managers overseeing someone doing this behavior are responsible. The reasons, depending upon what you know and where you are coming from, can be speculative. For me though, I was in a family for more than 26 years who is directly involved in this mess. Worst part is my three children, now adults, one already was seduced into being involved. He is involved with Rezko and if he doesn't get out, he may be sharing underwear with Rezko's Pals. There is a great deal that can be said about behavior lined with personality types and resulting criminal activities. One glaring behavior trait is arrogance and those I've met who are associated with this criminal system are exceptionally arrogant. The only reason that fits is because they get away with everything they do, even when it involves murder to even mass murder. Being above the law and able to rule over anyone can encourage arrogant behavior. Being brought back down to reality where you are just like everyone else makes us humble.

Personally I know about a number of murders and attempted murders done by associates with the family involved in this. Anyone would be totally shocked with what I know as some of it involves major situations that made International news. Yet the news only explains it as being an isolated incident when it's not. This doesn't help us understand what we are dealing with either.

Since my education on this started sometime after marrying in, it needs to be understood that the family seemed to me to have been seduced into joining. A long story for another time but does explain to me that they were seduced. However over time they eventually got in too deep to where they couldn't back out even if they tried. One comment told to me by my brother-in-law does explain part of this. We were talking about their Property Development business and he explained that "IF they didn't join, they wouldn't have ever been able to build a big business. They would have been shut down immediately and they wouldn't have been able to do anything about it." This is important to recognize since this criminal culture operates under everyone's rada. They have complete; Judicial, Political (local all the awy up into the Federal level) and Law Enforcement connections, no one is ever going to come after them. So if you just join and learn the size of what this is, you immediately realize that no matter who you go to for help, they'll learn about it and come after you. It leaves you with the feeling that you can't win no matter what you do. So instead of fighting, you join as he said "Everyone is involved".

From before my divorce started, I was subject to numerous attempts to harm that started out looking like an intent to spook me. The problem was that I already knew about many murders done by these people, so when things started happening to me, I knew where things were headed. Seldom has anyone been brought to justice. The muders I know about are known as accidents and act's of God when in fact they were planned murders.

Above I mentioned that the criminal activities against me started out with the appearance of wanting to spook me. Consider this a testing phase because when they feel they can get away with this, everyone that's happening agaisnt you advances to the next level. At this point you may be surrounded by Gang Stalking which is their beginning phase to where it advances to where you are now being pushed off the road to then dealing with the same at high speed. I can't even count the amount of times, I've narrowly missed getting killed in a car accident. In one day, I missed having 4 in a two mile distance with two stop lights in either direction. There is a lot more but for another time.

I made an effort to connect with Paula, but if the response that was received from her was real, she appears to be really scared. There's a lot of missinformation and misdirection when researching on the Net. But if it was Paula and to me she is really scared, I don't blame her at all. It may have been helpful for her if we were able to chat but it didn't happen. She seemed to want to cave in as that is exactly what I did for a number of years too. Even at that time, they were coming into my home and car on a regular basis.

There is a lot more but for another time. One thing I didn't talk about was how they snoop on you and that is important for another time...

You earned every ounces of the verbal violence toward you since you're a fucking asshole who clearly desire to be insulted and victimized. Otherwise, you would stop attacking and insulting people all the time.

"YET ANOTHER death threat from an Obot came my way this morning"

You have so much credibility, I'm sure the police laugh their way back to the police station when you complain to them.

You should change your name to Ashley.

was it from a tall muscular black man ? Do you think we believe an hysterical cunt like you ?
Do you mind if I call you Ashley from now on ?

I normally toss comments like these last two into the cyber garbage after skimming the first few words. I've received ten or eleven of these things within the past hour, although I suspect that they all come from the same sick author. (The same guy probably also sent this morning's death threat.)

I think that this correspondence makes the point -- Obama fanatics have severe mental health issues.

Joseph Cannon said...

Well, the largest degree of recent activity has come from two sources:

dyn-55-211.uwnet.wisc.edu, which means that I'm dealing with a cheesehead at the Univ of Wisconsin.

and:

adsl-99-141-56-124.dsl.chcgil.sbcglobal.net

...from Chi town, which indicates that we may be dealing with a paid-off harasser working for the Obama campaign.

Whoever he is, he's a damned coward. Care to identify yourself, coward?

Joseph Cannon said...

Come on, coward. I won't print you, but the more love letters you send me, the easier it becomes for me to track you down.

Why don't you operate under your real name, as I do, coward?

Joseph Cannon said...

HEY COWARD -- now that you know that I am tracking you down, why are you suddenly so silent? You were sending me notes every few minutes. Now you are gone!

I think we should meet. Mano a mano. I just want to say hi.

So why don't you want to meet with me, you anonymous threatening coward? It's not as though I'm going to bury a pipe wrench into your skull. I just want to -- you know -- shake hands.

Where ARE you, coward? Each note you send me is time-stamped. My stat service takes note of which IP loads each page at any given time. So the more you write, the easier it becomes to track you down, coward.

Why don't you make things easier, coward? Why don't you identify yourself?

COWARD!

Joseph Cannon said...

Still no word from the coward. Still no word from the infant who thinks he can threaten ME, yet seems strangely afraid of me.

Thus it is with all bullies. Stand up to a bully and he invariably stands revealed as a COWARD.

With regard to the added note - I think the story is a bit more complex.

Dana Milbank is constructing and pushing pro-Obama narratives. A charitable characterization would be Bob Somersby's - that Milbank is "a highly unreliable chronicler".

Milbank gave an account of a Palin rally in which Palin mention Ayers, then, according to Milbank's story, the crowd yelled "Boooo!" and someone shouted "Kill him!". Though the construction of the passage is slightly ambiguous, it's pretty clear that the "Kill him!" is in reference to Ayers.

Of course, Milbank's purpose is to spin the people at the rally as savage, racist rednecks.

Others then picked up the story, and - of course - portrayed the "Kill him!" as being in reference to Obama. Nice propagating meme - beautifully fitting the stereotype that Obama and the MSM have been constructing.

It appears that one person to pick up the meme was David Singleton, a staff reporter at the Scranton Times Tribune. So when a Palin rally occurred in Scranton, Singleton claimed that, when Obama was mentioned, "the crowd booed loudly. One man screamed 'kill him!'". The construction of Singleton's passage is almost identical to Milbank's (in science, we call that plagiarism), other than the reference unambiguously being to Obama in Singleton's passage.

The Secret Service then investigated, and concluded that this report was false.

Actually, another interesting example of this kind of thing was noted by Ann Althouse. Again, it has to do with the same type of "they're ignorant racist rednecks" narrative that's being pushed in much of the MSM.
Specifically, this involves the incident at a McCain rally in which someone says:
"I can't trust Obama. I have read about him, and he's not he's not he's a uh he's an Arab."
Time/CNN gives the quote as "I'm scared of Barack Obama... he's an Arab terrorist..."
http://althouse.blogspot.com/search?q=quinnell

I think one change that's occurred during my life - the media has always had strong biases that distorted reporting. But the news used to be more "fact oriented", whereas, now, it's increasingly about constructing narratives (and that's especially true for the elite news sources). I think that's one reason why public trust in the objectivity/reliability of the media (as measured in polls) has declined so much over the last decade.

I couldn't post here for awhile, even for some time after the "old style" commenting box was restored. Since preview now functions smoothly for me (didn't during posting problems), I presume this will post.

I even got, yesterday, a an "automatically generated Delivery Status Notification" from gmail warning me that "Delivery to the following recipient has been delayed: cannonfiremail@blogspot.com - Message will be retried for 2 more day(s)," which I didn't enjoy.

To the subject of this and many other recent posts by Joseph, what constantly strikes me is that the economic crisis is never mentioned, much less tied into the reports and comments on the happenings of our upcoming elections. To me, the connection is obvious, yet I despair of writing about it in such a way as to get through the filters of popular opinion, or even the (for lack of a better way of putting it under pressing time constraints) "politically correct modes of expression" on blogs even such as here.

Suffice for now to offer the following links. What does one call charts that map connections between people, organizations, etc.? Anyway, there is a nice one here (Acorn connected to seven names and organizations). http://larouchepac.com/static/2008/10/22/case-tony-rezco.html

There is a fairly short flash video on this, “... The Case of Tony Rezco” at the top of this page http://www.larouchepac.com/ I think all their stuff is worth reading/viewing.

----------
aside

I'm searching for a quote by Joseph at Google blog search and run across this on the as yet unused search page:

"Police: McCain volunteer changes ATM attack story
Politics | AP | Huffington Post Wires - Politics - 14 hours ago" (237 blogs over 17 hours)

Makes me want to scream.

-----------

Anyway, I can't quickly find Joseph's comment which refers to Lyndon LaRouche disparagingly as "Dear old Lyn" or the like. It is, to me, an example among hundreds (elsewhere) of how the work of "Lyn" and his colleagues is dismissed offhand, without addressing what's being said in the work itself.

I'm no cultist, have never met these folks, am not in correspondence with them, live on the other side of the planet from them, and I think that dismissing their work in this manner is a mistake to the detriment of what I'm presuming most everyone here is working for. Worse, it discourages others from reading or viewing their work (which is the intent?) I don't think "Lyn" or his colleagues are perfect; I think their (valuable) work would benefit from being brought into the realm of what's discussable--without the ad hominem stuff and third-hand opinions.

It actually is discussed in other countries. I'm sure that living abroad in a (once-)developing country has affected my views on this. As a citizen of the U.S., I have, over the years, come to regard Americans somewhat as foreigners, culturally. Yet we share to varying degrees what I'll call here without getting into it, an "American conscience;" something I think is in danger of extinction almost.

Please look at my links.

And thank you Joseph, for "tolerating" my comments. Sincerely. I wouldn’t flail (gentle as I try to be) so much if I weren’t oppressed by the feeling I was swimming upstream against a torrent of mistaken, and intentionally steered, popular opinion and modes of thought that are killing us.

Based on personal experience with Obama's messianic mob, not heresay, nor blog postings, I had no trouble whatsoever believing the young woman's story.

I have had my bouts and episodes with them, and would likely believe a similar story should it appear tomorrow. I see the malicious, thug element as nothing but pernicious zombies, capable of anything, following their chosen one's lead.

To hell with them all.

Perry Logan said...

The mind reels. The Obama people have behaved so badly that one has little trouble believing the story...

Then you remember that Republicans pull dirty tricks and hoaxes in every election, so you're not quite sure...

And then you remember the media bollixes up every story it tells, so you totally don't know what to think. Future historians (if we have any) will call this The Deception Election.

Joseph,

Here's another point which ties in with your "pattern" observation.

Why, when this story was nabbed by the media did they not include the previous story of the woman in NYC who was beat in the face with the stick busted off a McCain sign?

First, they ignored the woman who was beat in NYC. Then, they ran with this dubious story. They not only ran with it, but still failed to mention the woman McCain supporter attacked by the Obot in NYC.

I think that's very telling.

Oh, and please....make this a LaRouche-free zone.
Don't give a cult a toehold. The LaRouchies prey on college kids and they are also looking to wedge their way into every anti-Obama site. There is no reason to allow links to a seriously dangerous and antisemitic cult run by an extremist felon --- and every reason to protect your younger and perhaps less informed readers from being drawn into the lunatic's circle. It's no joking matter if you look it up and see what happens to the young people who become indoctrinated. He basically looks for a way to pick them off during each political season.

The barrage of links simply proves my point. Only an evangelical cultist would post such a ridiculous list of links with none of them being independent sources outside their own cult organizion. Please Joseph, don't let a LaRouchie use your place as a foothold. Why give ANY organization free advertising, let alone a cult?

And anyone can do their own search, not starting with anything LaRouchepac or any link provided by a LaRouchie. Schiller Institute is a LaRouche organization, with headquarters in Germany.

It's a dangerous anti-Semitic cult and every political season they find new ways to hook young people in. Last time it was by railing against Cheney....and by degrees of "reasoning" ended up linking Gore and Cheney to the "myth" of global warming. They're whack-jobs and like their leader switch political leanings as needed to ROPE people into their CULT.

If the Obama people had been disgruntled and Hillary the nominee, they would've had all sorts of hit pieces on the Clintons instead.
