Christianity is the best image

Turns out that Obi's prayer was intentionally leaked by the campaign. The idea, it seems, was to create one of those heart-tugging moments designed to convince us of his piety.

Could this guy be phonier? He should have received his sister's name: Maya means "illusion."

Using the remaining part of Solomon's Temple as a political prop is chutzpah indeed.

Cannonfire's sources at Ma'ariv have made available a copy of Obama's little-known Wailing Wall "PS" note, reproduced here for the first time.

I think you meant the remaining part of Cyrus the Great's Temple. Nebuchadnezzar knocked Solomon's walls down 2595 years ago.

The stones you see at the Wailing Wall do not date to the time of Cyrus.

The oldest parts of the Wailing Wall date back to the Herodian period, as part of his reconstruction of Solomon's Temple. The phrase "Solomon's Temple" is thus justified. Nobody has ever referred to the place as "Herod's Temple," probably because he was so thoroughly despised. Nobody has ever referred to it as "Cyrus' Temple," either.

Too bad it's NOT TRUE.

"I just got off the phone with a Ma'ariv spokesman who says that the accusation is "completely false," and that he has no idea who these papers were quoting from Ma'ariv. "No official spokesman for Ma'ariv told this to any of the papers." I've got some calls in to these papers to find out where they got the quote. (I'll update here when I hear back.) He told me definitively that "the Obama campaign did not give us a copy of the letter or approve it for printing."

UPDATE 1: I just spoke with an editor at one of the four publications who quoted the alleged "Ma'ariv spokesman." This editor broached the possibility that Ma'ariv was trying to deflect criticims of it by releasing these spurious rumors about the Obama campaign, but upon realizing that they'll have to back up those accusations, is now disavowing them. This editor is going to look into this alleged "Ma'ariv spokesman" they quoted in his publication so we can try to ascertain if this is a Ma'ariv cover-up. I'll update here when I hear back from him and if I get anything interesting from the other publications who also quoted this alleged spokesman. "

With all due respect, I wouldn't say "nobody has ever referred to it as Herod's Temple" --at least 41 thousand on google do. but that name almost always refers to the reconstruction of the Second Temple which was around from 516 BC when Cyrus 'let the people go' till the Romans knocked it's walls down (all but the wailing one)in 70 AD. Herod never laid a hand on any of Solomon's Temple --which was destroyed about 760 odd years before his remodeling of the second temple (in 19 BC)

Aside from Herod's remodeling, T2 was built by Zerubabel the grandson of the one of the last Judean Kings, on the orders of Cyrus The Great, but I guess "Zerubabel's Temple" doesn't jibe. Anyway the point Erza definitely makes is that the whole of the temple that Solomon built was gone. Ezra writes how the Zerub krew laid a foundation after marking where the sacrifices happened in the old temple, which was fully destroyed in 586 BC by Nebuchadnezzer II who took the Judeans back to the Euphrates for their "Babylonian Exile." Ezra says nothing about one of Solomon's walls remaining after the destruction of Jerusalem.

But either way, Solomon, Zerubabel, Cyrus the Great, it was really tacky for Obama's team to let the press see his "prayer"

Why was Obama praying?

I thought he was God?

I knew it was a page 2! The story begged for more! It is now complete.

And for those of you who think it was debunked - then who sent copies of the note to all the media and how did the “personal and private” moment end up on a You Tube video, complete with an invitation to “visit the official campaign site” with the notation, “Paid For By Obama For America?”
