BWAH HA HA HA HA HA

There's no Freude like Schadenfreude. Hey, Skinner: Maybe you can ask Mr. 1972 for a bag-full of Rezko's ill-gotten cashola. (As we learned in the trial, Fat Tony keeps the lolly in a safe in his office.)

Meanwhile, Larry Johnson's No Quarter is doing great.

My own humble stats have humbly ticked up -- even though I do nothing to promote the site, I've extended a middle finger to all former friends, I've asked big sites to remove links to this page, and I've been running the place with all the wild abandon of Puck trying to stick a thumb in God's eye. You ever see that movie where the guy keeps trying to lose his job, only to get promoted? C'est moi!

Hillary voters are one-half the Democratic electorate, and 30%-40% of those won't vote for Obama in the general. That means around 50 million people share my basic outlook. A blogger could prosper serving that audience. I sure as hell don't need the progs.

A blogger prospers best when he serves the truth, Joe. Just keep that in mind and you'll continue to have readers.

Mr. 1972? ...Oh. Took me a sec to "get" that. (Hey, shut up. I'm typically much better informed than the rest of my so-called generation. I'm allowed to blank out on historical references every once in a while.)

No prob, jen.

I distinctly recall seeing this book on the racks at my local grocery store back in 1972...

http://www.biblio.com/details.php?dcx=82858033&aid=frg

"How McGovern Won the Presidency and Why the Polls Were Wrong."

This was, as I recall, a thin paperback with a black cover. Although it pretended to be a "look back" at the great McGovern victory, it appeared a couple of months before the election.

The purport of the work held that McGovern's coalition -- young anti-war activists, blacks, and rich liberals -- would rush to the polls in numbers far exceeding all predictions. For this reason, McGovern's lack of appeal to the blue-collars simply did not matter.

I distinctly recall standing in Gelson's market the morning after the election, flipping through a copy of this book.

Then I went to the newsstand to see if the new Green Lantern/Green Arrow had come in. Not only was GL/GA more realistic, it had art by Neal Adams...!

I'm sure you becoming very popular with Republicans these days. You're doing everything in your power to see that disgruntled Hillary supporters will vote for McCain. I do hope you enjoy living in a police state.

I suppose you actually believe that a senile old man with serious anger management problems, a close and fruitful relationship with the worst corporate lobbyists, and a love for war will make a better President than Obama.

Brilliant tactic:

"Some take a more direct approach. In anticipation of the West Virginia primary, college students for Obama were hurling insults at farmers and truck drivers holding signs for Clinton."

West Virginia votes McCain. Take that to the bank.

So, since we're already in the Way Back Machine, what was the morning after the '72 election like for Democrats, Joseph?

I remember that book. I didn't buy it, of course.

Don't worry. I have been anti-Obama from the beginning. I never saw the appeal, never believed his keynote address in 2004 was any great shakes, and I knew he was a media creation in order to be a stooge for John McCain, the media's REAL darling.

The netroots (or nutroots as I have called them even before the right seized on that term) will discredit themselves once again by backing a loser. And really, one who is a Republican in all but name.

I have had a blog for over FIVE years, but because I don't follow the "progressive" herd, I don't get the hits as the big bloggers even though I should have. I can detect b.s. a mile away.

Question - why do the latest polls show Clinton beating McCain by 3 to 5 points, and show Obama beating McCain by up to 7 points?

Dearie me, the best political coverage now is to be found at....National Review! Whew! Who'da thunk?

What happens is that when you are in the opposition your thinking processes sharpen. Also, let's face it, their better writers have a grasp of history.

Here's something about 1980 that's required reading:

(what a fake-phony-fraud Ted Kennedy is!)

And this isn't bad, either:

(although I disagree w/its conclusion)

anon: See j above. There's this thing called the electoral college, y'see. No Dem can win without Ohio, FL, PA or WV.

And the real swiftboating hasn't started yet. The poor progs actually think that Obi has had rough media coverage. The big sillies! They're so insulated.

Susan, next time I reconfigure the template, I should link to your blog. You have a dog who resembles my Bella. What's the breed...?

Jen, the morning after in '72 was unsurprising because we all saw it coming. Actually, in my world, "The Morning After" was a song we had to sit through in "The Poseidon Adventure."

DL: I've been hearing this stuff about a "police state" being just 'round the corner ever since...

Well, ever since 1972.

And yes, I am more fearful of a corrupt Dem than of a corrupt Republican. As I've said many times, a Republican could never deep-six Social Security. And I don't think a Repubican will ever end abortion, because the issue is too helpful to them.

Which dog? I have a Lhasa Apso named Tony and a Chihuahua named Sam.

Your blog is really good, one of the few sane voices on the internets when it comes to this travesty of an election.

Susan: Some people have thought that my dog has some Lhasa in her.

Here she is:

Joseph, I wouldn't be surprised if your dog has some Lhasa.

I try to keep Tony's hair trimmed. It gets very unmanageable.
