Take note...

A plea for help with Firefox! I'm addicted to Firefox and can't go back to IE. But there's a problem: At unpredictable times, Firefox sends the CPU usage soaring near the 100% mark. This happens most often when I visit RAW Story and open up a few of their linked pages. There is no relation to other programs which may or may not be running concurrently.

A little research reveals that high CPU usage and high memory use are commonly-heard complaints about Firefox. I see many complaints, but no solutions. Some people have suggested disabling Flash, but that does not seem to be the issue on my end. (Besides, I design Flash stuff in what I laughingly refer to as my professional life.)

Something about certain sites causes Firefox to perform some infinitely-recursive function that slows my 'puter to a crawl -- but what?

(Note to the inevitable get-a-Mac zealot who is just dying to say it: Please don't say it.

Antioch college: Bob Fitrakis has published an interesting story on this hotbed of peace activism, which is shutting down (for a least a few years, and probably forever) in 2008. Fitrakis notes the presence of some spooky types on the college's board, and he wonders if they intentionally subverted the institution.

Dick's back! Remember when Dick Cheney left the executive branch? Well, he's back -- just in time to claim "executive privilege."

All-nighter at Joe's place: I really appreciated TPM's video coverage of the filibuster, especially his inclusion, at the end, of James Inhofe's declaration that the Iraqi forces were standing up and doing their job. Weren't the Iraqi forces shooting at our troops not many days ago...?

Sabotage! Rowan Scarborough, a hack for the Moonie Times, claims that the CIA is filled with enemies of freedom out to sabotage the war on terror. The bastards refuse to let Doug Feith define reality for them. Traitors!

Everything old is new again: I've spent some time making fun of Alex Jones and I plan to continue to do so. But I must confess -- and I do not know whether to feel shame or surprise -- this story has piqued my interest. Apparently, the "new" Osama Bin Laden video contains footage identical to a video released in 2003.

My recommendation, install adblock extension, restart the browser.

Go to the site, wait for the browser to calm down. Click on the adblock logo, and block out all of the javascript on the page.

Also, unless you use it, turn off java in the system preferences.

I'd recommend noscript instead, but that just kills the functionality of a lot of websites. YMMV

Tranny here to save your ass - lol

type about:config into the location bar, press enter, right click any line, choose "new">"integer", paste this into the dialogue that appears:

browser.cache.memory.capacity

click okay, specify the amount in kb in the next dialogue that appears, restart firefox.

PS: Our messed up healthcare system has been brought to you by the One Fascist Bird. But I predict that they would love to socialize their healthcare insurance expenses and move that money over into their profit column. We'll get socialized heathcare.
