Lois defines the problem

I feel guilty topping dr. elsewhere's important story on Blackwater (see also what Joy Tomme has to say here) -- but the above clip is both side-splitting and true.

Also worthy of your attention: The plot to link John Kerry to Al Qaeda back in 2004. (You'll have to scroll down quite a ways to get the meat of the story.)

And then there's the outrageous attempt (involving W himself) to coax an ill and barely-conscious John Ashcroft to sign off on the wireless wiretapping program. As we all know, the real targets of those wiretaps were Bush's political opponents.

Impeachable stuff? You bet. Yet the American people disapprove of this Democratic Congress more than they disapprove of W's criminality. The Republican presidential front-runners continue to beat their Dem counterparts in polls, the tabloids won't let go of the Obama-is-a-Muslim story, and the Mudochian hordes have not lost the ability to manage news and frame the issues.

I'm seeing Republican wins all around in '08. Why? Because we live a nation filled with Darwin disbelievers. Our doltish fellow citizens are ready prey for any con artist who announces that Darth Vader has a secret plot to assassinate Jesus.

Just to put it in perspective, the popularity of this Congress is higher than last year for the previous Congress (see Mystery Pollster's links). And Mahablog says maybe some disenchantment comes from lack of impeachment.

Mostly it's the media, which is basically there to poop on the Dems.

I'd like to seee more in-depth inquiry into the dissatisfaction with Congress. I strongly suspect that the rising disapproval is due to the fact that the Congress that was elected for a "change" has not managed to effect any change.

If impeachment happened tomorrow, approval ratings would go through the ceiling. The Dems had damned well better start turning in some discernible results, soon. What exactly was the point in having Gonzales back for MORE hearings? What a mistake! The Dem chairmen need to start issuing subpoenas instead of talking about doing so. And how exactly was Monica Goodling's specious claim of the right to not testify allowed to stand? Legally, no grounds for that! So now she has immunity, so guess what? She will deny that anyone ever directly instructed her to base appointments on party affiliation, and the whole inquiry goes up in a puff of smoke.

No wonder approval ratings have fallen during the last month.

something fishy is happening. I sent an email from my yahoo account with the both the link and complete text of the article you included in this post, "The plot to link John Kerry to Al Qaeda", and then also put the title of this article, "The Plot to Link the Kerry/Edwards 2004 Presidential Campaign to Al Qaeda" in the subject heading of that email.

I then put my yahoo email address in the TO: line and then put something like 25 friends' email addresses in the BCC: line.

I never received this email sent to myself. Even after I changed the subject heading to testing, I still never received this email sent to myself.

I did however receive some auto-reply notices from folks who are on vacation and these folks do not have yahoo email addresses.

then I called up Yahoo customer care because I have a premium account and they couldn't receive this email either. I sent them 7 emails to their testgroup yahoo email account, and they only received the 2 emails that didn't include the article or the subject heading.

So emails with this subject heading and article are gettinge filtered by yahoo to yahoo email addresses. Note that there were no file attachments in the original email, I had only copied and pasted the text from the webpage that featured this article.

I have opened up a case with yahoo premium support to find out what kind of a filter they have setup and I'll keep you updated.

That's quite interesting. You've probably made it onto a "potential enemy combatant" list as well. If it's any consolation, we're likely on it with you.

remember; this is a gallup poll, and their credibility has dropped considerably in the past several years.

also, polls on congress that showed such good approvals came after the first 100 days when pelosi was kicking butt. now they've become so temperate, especially with regard to iraq, and the population really wants us OUT. period.

finally, that anon story about is a bit scary; i'll have something more to say about this shortly.
