New quagmires for old

According to General John Abizaid, commander of American forces in the Middle East, the civil war convulsing Iraq should not be blamed on George Bush. Instead, all blame goes to Iran. Isn't that conveeeeeenient: The mess we made of the current war justifies the the upcoming war -- which will be far messier.

A link between Al Qaeda and Iran is hinted at, though never stated explicitly. That's a now-familiar tactic. Of course, Shi'ite Iran never had any use for Osama's Sunni movement. But that's the situation in our reality, which is not W's reality. Proposed new term: "Weality," defined as Bush's alternate universe.

Abizaid defines victory in Iraq as "a country at peace with its neighbors," which it was before we went in. Note that he makes no mention of democracy. We know now that the neocons never wanted democracy for Iraq in the first place: Their plan was to install Ahmed Chalabi as the newer, more American-friendly Saddam. Bush himself, some now say, interfered with that scenario.

who wants to bet that we'll be at war with Iran before the Dems take power in january?

and that this country may very well have martial declared because of the war against Iran?

anyone Iranian will be considered the enemy, like the Japanese Americans were interned after Pearl Harbor is my guess.

Dictators don't just give up power just because they didn't pay enough money to steal the elections because they didn't expect Dems winning by landslide margins.

I betcha $100.

Joseph? what's your bet?

One should never bet more than one can afford to lose, and a hardscrabble existence has taught me the value of every dollar. So the most I ever bet (on ANYTHING) is a donut. The kind of donut you can buy for under a dollar.

Not long ago, I would have bet one of those top-quality Krispy Kreme bavarian-filled donuts that we would have had Big Wedding II by now. And I would have lost that donut, no doubt while emitting a Homer-ic "D'Oh!"

So all I can say at this point is that I HOPE you are wrong.

isn't it strange that not a peep has been heard from Fitpatrick on the valerie plame leak. Nada, nothing, zip, zero.

It's like Cheney and Rove have some sort of blanket of immunity around them and nothing touches them.

One thing is that even if Gates is considered an enemy of Cheney because Gates is Bush Sr's boy from way on back, still Cheney has been calling the shots in secret for the last 6 years and he could easily with the help of his Saudi friends he just shored up his support from over his last weekend's visit in Saudi Arabia, easily pull off big wedding II which of course would lead to a full scale war with Iran and full martial law here in the US.

all so that Cheney and company can stay in power and ram through his plans to gut the constitution and finally steal whatever is left in our treasury.

cheney/bush junior have become the 21st century version of the Marcoses except they're a different race and they have much better marketing and have the majority of americans believing that whatever is shown on Faux TV is the truth.
